About Bikash Nepal

Vision
BIKASH exists to develop human resources in order to serve people living with severe forms of ailment affecting physical, mental and socio-economic aspects of life so that they enjoy their rights with dignity and full potential.

Mission
BIKASH Nepal is an independent, dignified and sustainable regional resource centre with affiliation to state owned institutes to improve individual and institutional competency in participation with the community, professionals, service providers, social workers and the survivors in providing appropriate health care, rehabilitation and socio-economic services to marginalized people particularly aiming at leprosy, disabilities, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.

Goals
A. BIKASH Nepal will continue to develop efficient and competent service providers in the fields of leprosy, disability, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis to furnish quality services in preventive, curative and rehabilitative sectors at national and regional level.

B. BIKASH Nepal will have been established as a functional organisation on the basis of evidences, practices and facts through conducting various reviews, studies and researches in areas the organisation works.

C. BIKASH Nepal will ensure for possessing adequate resources to own its land and building by the end of the 1st five years so that it will have decent training facilities and office space during the 2nd five year plan period along with the true sense of financially sustaining institution.

Organization Structure

BIKASH Nepal is bound by its constitution, employment policy and finance policy. The organization is governed by the executive committee (EC) elected by the BIKASH Nepal general assembly. The EC consists of nine members and four advisors. The EC meets once in three months and has the responsibility for planning, implementation and management of the organisation's activities. Day to day jobs are handled by the Program Manager and the Administration & Finance Officer.

In order to ensure smooth running of training and other activities, there is  a management committee (MC) to assist the EC that meets every month.

The training team of BIKASH Nepal includes well experienced trainers and has good capacity in managing the centre and field based training. The team has high influence in the field of training within basic health service (BHS) and NGOs .

Since BIKASH Nepal is a non-profit making organization it is dependent on its income generation from the courses and the facilities it  offers.

Unfortunatley this income is not enough for BIKASH to exist without its donors. At the moment BIKASH is supported by GLRA (German Leprosy Relief Association) and SMHF Japan (Sasakawa Memorial Health Foundation).

Services and Facilities

BIKASH Nepal provides several national and international training courses round the year. These courses aim to strengthen our motto which is to Build in Knowledge, Attitude and Skills for health.

Services of BIKASH Nepal include:

  • Training Hall
    BIKASH has two well-equipped halls suitable for seminars, workshops, meetings and trainings. It also has a large area for conducting outdoor programs.
  • Guesthouse and Hostel
    BIKASH has a well-facilitated guesthouse, able to accomodate 17 people at a time. There are 4 guesthouse buildings including a cafetaria that provides delicious meals round the day.
    Apart from the guesthouse, BIKASH also has a hostel which can accomodate 20 people. It shares similar features as the guesthouse.
  • Training equipment
    BIKASH provides necessary resources and teaching materials for trainings and seminars: LCD multimedia projector, OHP, video player, slide projector, etc. is provided by the organization. It also has internet facility to enrich teaching and learning activities.
